Enjoying responsibility
After studying Electrical Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, I worked for over ten years as a hardware development engineer at a large corporation. For the last three years, I was a team coach. Even early on, I was interested in coordinating projects and leading project teams. In order to focus on this aspect, I decided to take a suitable position at SEW-EURODRIVE in Bruchsal, Germany. That was in April 2008.
From our first meetings on, it became clear that not only customer requirements, but also the employees are very important to this family business. Now I can confirm that impression: I received a very warm welcome. After an orientation program, I started my work as a development project manager. This task includes control and coordination of projects across all the departments involved.
Taking responsibility for the projects together with my team, helping to shape processes and support reorganization – this and much more is what drives me in my everyday work.
In concrete terms, I have to create the overall plan, lead the development project teams, be responsible for adhering to deadlines and budgets, ensure project transparency for all technical departments and represent the projects in the steering committee. At the same time, I was able to expand my horizons by working across departments on special topics, which quickly gave me an overview of other departments and their processes.
In May 2010, the "Development Project Management" department was founded and I was put in charge of it. In addition to "daily business," I now also focus on managing and coaching employees. The company can only succeed with excellent employees. For me, it goes without saying to help employees advance technically and personally. Taking responsibility for the projects together with my team, helping to shape processes and support reorganization – this and much more is what drives me in my everyday work.
I'm happy to work at SEW-EURODRIVE, where the focus is on not just short-term profit, but also long-term success.
