Part of the "SEW family" for 25 years
After my training as an industrial mechanic specializing in production technology, I became an operator and self-setter in casting machining of turned parts. As I was starting out my career, it soon became clear to me how important good cooperation among employees is. After the training, I learned a lot from my older colleagues.
I also learned a lot during my "forced break" for alternative civilian service, after which I worked for 15 years as a setter on transfer systems until I decided to set new goals for my career. It was my supervisor who gave me the push I needed to go to a specialized vocational school for further education. With his support and a little financial assistance from SEW-EURODRIVE to help with the tuition, I laid the groundwork for my further professional success. In February 2012, not long after successfully completing my further education, I got the opportunity to take on a new task and switched to the AVP/Tools and Fixtures department as a BMS planner and deputy head of department.
You need enjoyment and success at work for a satisfying working environment – but, for me, SEW-EURODRIVE's job security and social benefits are just as important.

I work there in a 25-member team consisting of experienced CNC turners, hobbers, cylindrical grinders and installation technicians. I coordinate and monitor production of resources and assembly tools that are used to assemble our products worldwide, as well as customer-specific special designs. Planning and designing prototypes of the latest developments is very interesting. In my position, I'm in close contact with a wide variety of departments, material suppliers and tool manufacturers. In one current project, we're planning to expand the machinery park with one lathe and two five-axis milling machines. In order to produce even more complex forms in the future, we're currently reviewing use of a CAD/CAM system for machine programming.
Of course, in addition to daily business, I find these technical innovations particularly exciting. And if they mean that staff members need further training that's no problem at SEW-EURODRIVE. In-house or external training sessions quickly provide the necessary knowledge. The very great variety always presents new challenges, and these constant changes make my job a lot of fun. You need enjoyment and success at work for a satisfying working environment – but, for me, SEW-EURODRIVE's job security and social benefits are just as important. Another thing I value about the company is that the management stands by the existing family business, which means that profits remain in the company and are used for new plants, technologies and innovations.
I'm happy I decided to work at SEW-EURODRIVE, and proud to have been a member of the "SEW family" for 25 years now.
