From trainee to technician
My career at SEW-EURODRIVE started in 1997 with my training as an industrial mechanic specializing in production technology. After my training, I worked as a shaft production specialist at the Graben-Neudorf plant.
I gradually gained familiarity with all the steps in this area – starting with cutting the unmachined parts to length on the NC bandsaw and buzz saws, then the hobbing and turning processes on solid and hollow shafts, all the way to setting up a complex production line that combines all the production processes with multiple CNC machines. In the end, I was able to produce a workpiece from the first operation to the finished part that was ready to install.
The fantastic diversity is what I enjoy most about my workplace. I really enjoy coming up with strategies for optimal workpiece processing and implementing them.
I've since completed in-service training as a mechanical engineer specializing in industrial engineering. Since 2010, I've been working as a production engineer in CNC programming. In this position, I create the processing programs for machine tools, which are often machines I used to work on myself.
The fantastic diversity is what I enjoy most about my workplace. I really enjoy coming up with strategies for optimal workpiece processing and implementing them in my CNC programs. I also get to be involved in sophisticated projects all the time. You meet manufacturers of machines, clamping devices and tools, assist in procurement of new machines and can share your experiences to achieve optimal results.
What I really appreciate at SEW-EURODRIVE is the excellent training, the chance to achieve something with personal dedication, and last but not least, the positive working environment and friendly colleagues.
