Always prepared to listen

My name is Malisa Hoffner, I am 16 and am completing my training as an industrial mechanic. I have always been interested in manual trades and my elective at school was technology. I researched possible training programs on the Internet. I then applied to SEW-EURODRIVE and received the confirmation I had hoped for.

Besides manual skills, such as filing, sawing and drilling, we also learn how to operate drills, lathes and milling machines. I complete the tasks that are assigned to me or work on my projects (classic car, compressed air piston engine). Most of my time is spent at my workbench or on the machines for which I am currently producing parts. This also tests my manual dexterity. Besides the classic car and compressed air piston engine projects, I can also come up with ideas independently and turn these into projects, obviously with my instructor's consent.

At the vocational school I learn a lot about my profession and formulas that I have to apply in the operation, such as those required to calculate a speed for example. In addition to job-related subjects, we naturally also study English, German, etc.

I most enjoy working on the machinery. I was not interested in training where you have to sit in front of a computer. I get to move around a lot in this job and I also enjoy working at my workbench.

In general, I am really enjoying the training at SEW-EURODRIVE. The instructors are always prepared to listen and help where they can. The cooperation with my colleagues is also good - I enjoy coming to work in the morning. Besides myself, there are two other girls in my year of training who I get along very well with. We are really well accepted here as girls.
