To make sure you understand the products you will go on to design as a technical product designer, and how you will go about this, you start by learning the fundamentals of practical metalworking. We also give you an insight into pneumatics. All this takes place alongside your basic drawing and design training. Working on small projects independently, you will prepare graphics and documentation and develop detailed designs. Since drawings are no longer two-dimensional, but are now created from three-dimensional models using CAD systems, we also give you an in-depth grounding in 3D computer modeling.
The practical part of your basic training predominantly takes place at our plant in Graben-Neudorf. Some of the technical training is provided in Bruchsal. A professional team of experienced trainers will give you regular feedback and will always be on hand to offer advice and support. You will also benefit from the state-of-the-art training center we are opening in Graben-Neudorf in fall 2025.
Alongside your practical training, you will be taught the relevant theory in the classes you attend and also in seminars about work methods, teamwork, and many other topics. You will attend the Carl-Benz-Schule vocational school in Karlsruhe one or two days a week.
As a technical product designer working in the development, research, and design departments, you will use the CAD system to prepare 2D and 3D designs of our products and components. These will then be used in our production and sales departments. If you have big ideas for your future and want to continue developing your skills, you could also choose to undertake further training as a specialist technician in a variety of departments. You will already have the most important prerequisites – character, strong abilities, and excellent commitment.
The stipend we pay you is clearly regulated, based on the collective agreement for the metal and electrical industry in North Württemberg / North Baden:
Money isn't everything, though. You can look forward to numerous other benefits, including a 35-hour week, flextime days, special bonuses, a company pension, a travel allowance, a canteen, and much more besides!
The entry requirement for our apprenticeship as a technical product designer is a mid-level diploma (Mittlere Reife) from a vocational high school (Werkrealschule, Realschule, or Fachschule).
Grades are not the sole factor we consider in our decisions about training positions – they are more a way of ensuring you get an interview. It is important that your personal capabilities suit both the training and us as a company. The qualities we look for include enjoying your work and the will to drive things forward. As a result, we are interested in the overall picture, especially your grades in mathematics, technology, and natural sciences.
