Limitless opportunities

My name is Dominik Vogt and I have been working as a software developer in the HMI environment at SEW-EURODRIVE since the end of my cooperative study program in “Applied Computer Sciences”. I realized early on that I wanted to complete the computer science cooperative study program as the practical phases in the company let you establish a lot of contacts, even while completing the course. The experience of finding out how a global company operates and changes is also very valuable.

I found out about SEW-EURODRIVE through a magazine advert and immediately applied for a cooperative study program. Although it does not seem to be a typical software company at first glance, SEW-EURODRIVE provides a range of opportunities for computer scientists.

My working days at SEW-EURODRIVE were always extremely varied during the study program.

Although it does not seem to be a typical software company at first glance, SEW-EURODRIVE provides a range of opportunities for computer scientists.

As a computer scientist the focus tends to be on development. To start with, you have the opportunity to get to know a variety of different departments in short intervals of one to two weeks where you complete smaller projects. In later semesters you spend several months in a department (of your choice) where you complete larger projects with greater responsibility. As a computer scientist, the focus is on software development and you spend quite a bit of time at your desk and in discussions with colleagues.

The selection of projects is extremely flexible. Students are given a list of open topics across the departments from which they can make their decision. For example, as a bachelor's thesis I designed and developed an app for a Windows 8 tablet.

You essentially have unlimited options at SEW-EURODRIVE. Even if the study program has a certain technical orientation, the student is free to influence their career path. The work environment as well as the provided equipment are both excellent. And the cooperation with colleagues is also very straightforward. You work together to identify and develop solutions. There is no such thing as an “egotistical” approach – everyone is pulling in the same direction.
