SEW-EURODRIVE keeps its promises

"SEW‑EURODRIVE is the right place for people who appreciate subtle differences, such as that between talking and doing." This slogan caught my eye on the SEW-EURODRIVE homepage when, towards the end of my master's degree (Industrial engineering), I was looking for an internship. It appealed to me and, in order to find out whether they keep to their promises, I opted for an internship with SEW-EURODRIVE in gear unit assembly planning.

Over this period I had the chance to learn about a planning engineer's varied areas of responsibility. At the start, I worked for two days on an assembly island, was personally supervised and was therefore able to find out about the activities involved in installing the gear unit and what challenges needed to be overcome in planning for this. Over the rest of my internship, my work involved, amongst other things, designing a procedure for completing conformity evaluations, restructuring a buffer area for paint protection caps and carrying out a potential analysis in a paint shop. A lot of trust was placed in me when completing my tasks. I was able to work on tasks independently and there was always somebody there to listen if I had any questions.

I especially liked the fact that I was actively involved in the design process as an intern: Every plausible idea can be planned and realized immediately with the necessary backing.

Each time I wanted to examine a process in the factory in more detail as part of my task, I was able to move from my office workplace to the assembly hall immediately, discuss it with the workers on-site and carry out the procedure myself.

By visiting other SEW-EURODRIVE factories and attending seminars, arranged specifically for interns, I have found out more about the company and was able to get in contact with other students.

When I was considering writing my master's thesis at SEW-EURODRIVE, I was actively supported in selecting a topic, and my superior had contacts who helped me find a supervisor at the university.
