Intention: career entry

I came to know SEW-EURODRIVE about three years ago from a factory tour organized by my university. The company immediately sprung to mind for the practical phase required in the fifth semester of my degree course and I sent in a speculative application straightaway.

I worked for six months in the sensor technology development and this internship covered virtually the entire development process: designing concepts in collaboration with other students or employees, wiring diagram and layout development, design work using 3D software and then conducting and evaluating tests. I was assigned to small, independent projects and was treated like a real employee. My colleagues were always prepared to explain the background to me and, as a result, I was able to gain a broad insight into the company. I was able to make additional contacts when students met socially on a weekly basis. Regular meetings are organized by the student social group as well as additional factory visits to help us get to know the production processes. Towards the end of my practical phase I was asked to apply for the StudentsWorld and to continue to support my department through a student work placement.

I was assigned to small, independent projects and was treated like a real employee. My colleagues were always prepared to explain the background to me and, as a result, I was able to gain a broad insight into the company.

StudentsWorld enabled me to make contact with other departments. The regular mentor meetings and the discussions which followed gave me an insight into the range of duties and area of work of these departments. In addition to this, soft skills seminars are offered that support the lectures and trade show visits are organized. Personally, I really liked the seminar “The Me Brand.” Presentation training with video recording has helped me to work on how I present myself for future interviews.

I am currently writing my bachelor's thesis about magnetoresistive converters in the mechatronics development department - rotary encoders and sensors. Based on the positive impressions I have made, I am also very interested in starting my career with SEW-EURODRIVE.

I can only recommend to all students that they should plan do to an internship or a final paper with SEW-EURODRIVE. Also think about a speculative application - often interesting positions have not yet been advertised!

Drive the future. Now.
