It is almost like being part of a family

At the end of my degree in Computer Science at KIT Karlsruhe, I discovered an interesting job posting on the SEW-EURODRIVE careers website which matched the main areas of my degree perfectly. I had already attended lectures by SEW-EURODRIVE in production technology, my supplementary subject. Since I also have a keen interest in issues in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, the idea of working in areas that these fields have in common appealed to me.

Following a friendly and informative interview with HR and the specialist department, I was able to begin my six month final paper “Design and implementation of an automated data exchange of CAD planning data” in the application software expert group (in the area of research technology). I enjoyed the work right from the start because, on the one hand, it is challenging and demands an independent approach to work, while on the other it also provides an insight into exciting and current areas of research. I have modern and powerful hardware as well as up-to-date software available for the work.

The cooperation with my supervisor at SEW-EURODRIVE and my supervisor at the university worked very well thanks to the short lines of communication. If I have any questions I can ask the employee responsible at any time. Together with the fact that you almost feel as if you are part of a big family, the excellent working atmosphere which results quickly puts you at ease.

Each week students get together and this provides the opportunity to make contact with students from other disciplines and to discuss experiences with one another.

I also think it is worth mentioning, in particular, that the entire process chain from research via product development, product maintenance, production, and sales through to service is all done in-house - outsourcing really is an alien concept and the strong ties to home are tangible!
