Learning from and with the best
I made a speculative application to SEW-EURODRIVE for a practical placement to complete my thesis to gain a double master’s in industrial engineering from Albstadt-Sigmaringen University and mechanical engineering from the University of South Wales in Cardiff. It was important to have the opportunity to work on an exciting topic in an innovative, pioneering and above all dynamic setting. In the very same week as I applied, I received a phone call inviting me to an interview. Even during the interview, I found my expectations were exceeded. The HR department and my later mentor took a lot of time to get to know me at this initial meeting, and immediately afterward I was introduced to the project they were offering.
The remaining coordination also went smoothly, and as a result I was able to begin work on redesigning the logistics concept and final assembly the following month. Right from the outset, I felt valued as an employee, was warmly welcomed into the department, and quickly connected with other units thanks to the open communication and friendly atmosphere.
“Right from the outset, I felt valued as a master's candidate at SEW-EURODRIVE, and I soon connected with other units, too, thanks to the friendly atmosphere. While I was completing my thesis, the variety of activities and the trust that was put in me boosted my motivation levels time and again.”
The work itself was as exciting as I could have imagined. While I was completing my thesis, the variety of activities, frequent consultations with interfaces and the trust that was constantly being put in me boosted my motivation levels time and again.. Both my mentor and the other people and departments I came into contact with always had an open ear for me and were willing to help me any time I had difficulties.
In addition, SEW-EURODRIVE is increasingly working to ensure that its students and interns are able to see the wider picture. A weekly informal students’ gathering provides an opportunity for interested students to quickly network, while workshops, seminars and information events enable them to find out more about corporate processes and functions.
I can heartily recommend SEW-EURODRIVE to anyone with an intrinsic motivation to contribute and who enjoys actively shaping things. I am incredibly grateful for the experiences I have been able to gather here and the skills I have acquired. It is the perfect place for anyone looking for interesting work and a friendly atmosphere where they can gather work experience as part of an internship or work towards their thesis.
