Premium Sine Seal - a wave that seals

  • Gear motor, symbolic sine waves (for shaft seal) and up-to-date label

Shaft seals have been around for a long time, sealing a rotating shaft against two environments. Shaft seals are standardized according to DIN ISO 3760 and are state of the art. So why did we design a new rotary shaft seal with the Premium Sine Seal and what is different about it compared to other rotary shaft seals?

The Premium Sine Seal

Drives in industrial applications are increasingly operated around the clock with high dynamics in changing directions of rotation, often up to 8,000 operating hours per year. Under these loads, the rotary shaft seal (RWDR) - in terms of service life - is often the limiting element in a gear motor. Together with Freudenberg Sealing Technologies GmbH & Co KG, SEW-EURODRIVE GmbH & Co KG developed the PSS sealing system, in which the lubrication in the sealing gap was optimized, friction and wear were reduced and sealing reliability was increased.

Your benefits

  • Wear reduced

on the sealing lip by about 50%
  • Expected service life longer

by a factor of 2 (compared to other systems on the market), which means longer maintenance intervals
  • No grooving in

or wear on the shaft – replacement oil seals can be installed at the same location
  • Improved reliability

against leakage with increased system availability
