The value must be within the application limits that are defined in the parameter group Encoder function for the position modes Absolute position with limited travel distance or Modulo absolute position.

In the event of an infringement of the limit positions, the STO safety sub-function is activated immediately as an error response.

In addition, an infringement of the limit positions results in immediate deactivation of all safe digital outputs F‑DO to which the SBC safety sub-function is assigned. The brakes actuated by these safe digital outputs are applied. A lifting axis can sag during this time.

In the following additional situations, a lifting axis can sag during the brake application time and only come to a standstill below the lower limit position:

  • The actual position of the lifting axis is too close to the lower limit position.
  • In the event of a system fault, the lifting axis is at a limit position without an applied brake.
