Here, the development focus is on all kinds of standard gear units – worm, helical gear, bevel gear and parallel-shaft helical gear units, gear units unique to SEW, but also rotation-proof and robust planetary servo gear units, as well as stainless steel gear units equipped with acid-resistant, alkali-resistant and many other hygienic properties – in fact, all that a mechanical engineer's heart truly desires.
In gear unit development, you will use AutoCAD or SOLIDWORKS to compile engineering drawings. You will evaluate the stability and rigidity of mechanical structures and components using numerical simulations (FEM, MKS), or test the gearing, clearance, efficiency and noise levels of prototypes. You will also regularly consult with teams working in production & assembly with regard to costs and feasibility.
You can inject your special expertise into our technological expert groups for gear unit components (gearing, gaskets, lubricants) or calculation methods (FE methods, thermal analysis, acoustics).
