Learning never stops

When choosing where to complete my cooperative education program in commercial IT, I was immediately drawn to SEW‑EURODRIVE in the Nordbaden region of Germany. I was excited to move to a region that values innovation and that is already technologically advanced. Since my degree program was such a positive experience, it became my goal to start my career in IT at SEW‑EURODRIVE. Since completing my bachelor’s degree in 2013, I have worked in the IT Factory Automation group, the same group where I wrote my bachelor’s thesis.

As an IT system developer in the SAP EWM area, my colleagues and I are now responsible for the conception and continuous improvement of our internal logistics systems, and for providing consulting for these systems. The challenges I face include connecting automation technology to the SAP warehouse management system and visualizing the corresponding business processes within the system. Telling the warehouse to transport the correct container to the correct position and to execute the operational process without errors is not always simple in practice. That is why I especially enjoy seeing how the things we develop play out in reality, for example moving a container from A to B.

I particularly enjoy the diverse tasks that I take on every day at SEW-EURODRIVE. I also value the friendly atmosphere among my colleagues, especially as an inexperienced employee.

I collaborate on both large and small projects, and I have the opportunity to bring my own knowledge to the table. When a new warehouse is built or an old one is modernized, the logistics system must be adapted. We always find ourselves confronting different topics, since no warehouse is physically identical to another.

I particularly enjoy the diverse tasks that I take on every day at SEW-EURODRIVE. Many areas have requirements for logistics systems that require you to work not only with your IT colleagues but with various departments such as Shipping, Assembly or Production. I value the friendly atmosphere among my colleagues, especially as an inexperienced employee.

For me learning never stops, and so professional development is another important factor for me. Seminars and other programs allow me to continue developing on both a personal and professional level. SEW‑EURODRIVE is also open to the possibility of combining my work with progress toward a master’s degree.
