An employer that nurtures my potential

I am 23 years old and for nearly the past year, I have been a qualified IT specialist in the area of application development. My training program lasted three years. I spent two-thirds within the company, while the rest was spent in blocks of time at a vocational school. Among other things, the vocational school taught us the basics of the Java programming language. During the parts of the training program spent in the company, I was able to familiarize myself with all the IT areas in SEW‑EURODRIVE.

At the beginning of the training program, my supervisors dictated the IT areas in which I was to work. Later, I had a say in determining which areas I wanted to work more intensively in. In order to get an overview of the diverse IT tasks within SEW‑EURODRIVE, I first took a peek into the everyday work that goes into the support hotline. This taught me various skills, such as how to install a laptop and program applications. By the end of the training program, I was already in the department where I would start my career, IT Sales, and I completed my final project in the area of pricing.

I was able to complete the training program on a part-time basis, since I have a child. The flexible working times made it possible for me to have both a family and a career.

As a prospective application developer, I was able to attend several programming courses (C#, ABAP basics, and ABAP-OO training) to continually expand my skills. I obtained practical experience in the various business service departments and in the weeks of practical application following the programming courses. After the ABAP-OO training session, for example, the training group worked together to program the game Mastermind within the SAP environment.

In SEW‑EURODRIVE, I have found an employer that nurtures my potential, and this makes me happy. Regular qualification interviews allow me to find suitable opportunities for further professional development. However, it is not just this nurturing that makes SEW‑EURODRIVE so outstanding. I really value how the company takes my personal needs into account. For example, they allowed me to complete the training program on a part-time basis, since I have a child. The flexible working times made it possible for me to have both a family and a career.

I am now working in the Business Services Sales area, where I am faced with the daily challenge of integrating new customer requests into the SAP system.
