Integrated from the very start
Before I joined SEW‑EURODRIVE, I first completed the IT specialist training program with a focus on system integration. I then had to decide between pursuing a university degree and starting my career. Instead, I chose something in between: I got a year of job experience and then started my Bachelor of Science degree in information technology at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences.
On July 1, 2013, the day had finally come – my first day of work at SEW‑EURODRIVE. I was positively surprised that my new manager gave me an entire day of his time to introduce me to my new workplace and new colleagues. Within the first month of my initial training phase, I realized that, despite having grown to approx. 15,000 employees, SEW‑EURODRIVE has remained a family company. My colleagues also made the process of integrating into the new team extremely easy.
I was positively surprised that my new manager gave me an entire day of his time to introduce me to my new workplace and new colleagues.
During the orientation program that took place over the first few months, I had time to get to know the various products, departments, and contact persons within the company. I also had my own introductory project, which allowed me to familiarize myself with the new software environment. In this project, I developed a search program that could be used to search the documents stored globally within SharePoint.
I am now fully integrated into the software development process, and I am working on a software system for integrated engineering of all products that are based on SEW‑EURODRIVE drive technology. Specifically, I work on data management and transmission of data between individual software layers. I am continually able to bring my own ideas to this project. My daily tools are the software platform .NET and the associated programming language C#. In our team, we work according to the “SCRUM” agile development process, which we use to plan and implement the tasks described above. This gives us flexibility in dividing up the tasks, and each person in the team knows what his or her colleagues are currently working on.
