Starting off made easy
In 2010, I started a training program to become a draftsman (today: technical product designer) at SEW-EURODRIVE. During this time, I first completed basic mechanical training in our training workshop in Graben-Neudorf. The basics and all production processes were combined into a single project, the so-called “classic car.”
Later in the training program, I moved to the Bruchsal site, where I learned the basics of draftsmanship. Since my path took me through many different departments, I gained deep insight into the various development areas. I successfully completed the training program in January of this year.
Even before the end of my training, SEW-EURODRIVE was looking to make it possible for me to move to my favored department. As luck would have it, I was able to start immediately in the main Motor Development department in the Standard Motors expert group. My colleagues were open and nice, and this made it extremely easy to get started in my day-to-day work.

My new team currently consists of seven people. We are responsible for the basic development, preliminary development, and series development of asynchronous motors. I am currently collaborating on the IE3 project. This project involves developing a series of power-optimized, cost-optimized and efficiency-optimized IE3 motors to secure the competitiveness of the company. My tasks are extremely diverse and interesting. I create 3D models of individual parts or assemblies, prepare drawings or optimize existing component parts, for instance to save on materials. These changes and optimizations are entered into a list in order to keep track of this progress.
If you have technical inclinations and you like working on the computer, then training to become a technical product designer is the perfect choice. I have never regretted my decision to start the training program at SEW‑EURODRIVE.
