Integrated safety functions up to PL e / safety integrity level 3 enable the safe implementation of sophisticated machine designs. From STO to SLS, numerous safe motion functions are available. The connection is provided via Safety over EtherCAT®. In connection with MOVILINK® DDI, this creates a seamless solution for motion and safety over a single cable.
Decentralized installation close to the motor in the field minimizes the need for control cabinets. In addition, the machine’s thermal design is optimized because the power electronics and the motor are spatially decoupled. This ensures better use of installation space and allows for a free choice between synchronous and asynchronous motors.
The system already includes the STO (Safe Torque Off) safety function up to PL e / safety integrity level 3 in the basic unit via Safety over EtherCAT®. Additional Safe Motion functions (e.g., SLS) can be flexibly added via the MOVI-C® platform and connected via Safety over EtherCAT®.
The maximum cable length between the servo drive installed near the motor and the motor is 5 meters. Thanks to MOVILINK® DDI single-cable technology, power, encoder data, and safety signals are transmitted over a single cable.
The decentralized system is optimized for high-speed, dynamic motion tasks. Typical applications include packaging machines (carton erector, toploader, case packer), pick and place systems, palletizers, and robotics cells.
