As a company that takes a proactive approach to the future, we have always done everything in our power to live up to our responsibilities in every way, whether in relation to the environment, our customers, our business partners, or our employees.
We are shaping the change – SEW EURODRIVE has been focusing on topics such as the circular economy, renewable energies, and energy-efficient drives for many years now. Our products, which are designed as a modular concept, comply with Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2019/1781. What's more, we have received multiple awards and hold various certificates:
Our Sustainability Committee, which reports directly to the Management Board, monitors and continuously re-evaluates the ways our actions across all sectors and departments impact the environment.
The foundation for sustainable business practices: To holistically optimize our processes, we have defined several areas of focus. Here, we evaluate our progress and identify new measures.
The high quality of our products goes hand in hand with high ethical standards—that go beyond compliance with applicable laws and respect for human rights. Ethics and governance are sustainability in action. They embody our company’s core values: freedom, reliability, and humanity.
Every single employee at SEW-EURODRIVE is important. People are the “driving force” behind our company and the key to our long-term success. Our guiding principle shapes our entire corporate culture.
The modular design principle underlying our products has been a key driver of our success for many decades — a concept that is, by its very nature, resource-efficient and therefore sustainable. Building on this foundation, we are progressively aligning processes throughout the entire value chain to ensure that the use of energy and materials is as efficient and sustainable as possible — from product development through disposal — in close collaboration with our customers and partners.
SEW-EURODRIVE’s modular system enables the creation of customized drive solutions — tailored precisely to each customer and industry. While there is no one-size-fits-all answer to the question of a drive’s carbon footprint, we have many measurable parameters that we use to track our site- and market-based emissions, and we are already implementing measures based on these findings.
Think local — act global. We aim to source raw materials as close to our plants as possible and locate our facilities near our customers. By keeping transport distances short, we reduce CO₂ emissions and minimize the need for packaging. “Glocalization” — the combination of globalization and localization — makes us more flexible and helps us avoid becoming overly dependent on individual countries or regions.
