Certificates and product compliance

We set high standards for our day-to-day work – from high quality in all areas, environmental protection and occupational safety to information security and the functional safety of our products. Implementing the requirements specified by management system standards and adhering strictly to international product compliance regulations are part and parcel of this.

Certified management system

To demonstrate our compliance with the requirements of the relevant management system standards to our customers and other stakeholders, we subject our integrated SEW‑EURODRIVE management system to regular external audits and certification procedures.

Product compliance

SEW‑EURODRIVE products are subject to numerous statutory rules and regulations. They must not damage the environment or people's health. The tightening of legislation means we are required not only to ensure product and user safety, but also to refrain from processing prohibited substances and to comply with substance restrictions.

Recycling, remanufacturing, reuse

SEW-EURODRIVE GmbH & Co KG strives to use as few new natural resources as possible in the production of its products. An important aspect of this is the circular economy with the recycling of materials as well as the inspection and/or reprocessing of returned components and their reuse in new products. SEW-EURODRIVE GmbH & Co KG only uses these processes if the resulting materials and components are of the same quality as new parts.

German Packaging Act

The requirements relating to packaging and packaging waste are governed by EU Directive 2018/852 (EU Packaging Directive).

The German Packaging Act (VerpackG) applies at national level.

Further information (in German only) can be found at:

As a responsible industrial company, SEW-EURODRIVE ensures the legally compliant and environmentally appropriate disposal of waste and packaging. This means we operate outside the municipal waste management system. As an industrial company, and working with our partner companies, we take responsibility for complying with the legal requirements relating to reusing and/or recycling packaging.

Consequently, our product packaging must not be disposed of using the municipal refuse collection system (e.g. yellow bags, blue bins, etc.). Instead, you can return it to SEW-EURODRIVE or our partner network free of charge.

Generally speaking, we make a distinction between "harmless" packaging such as cardboard, disposable pallets, packaging film and strapping, and packaging with "harmful" product contents such as the oil containers we use for GearOil by SEW-EURODRIVE.

To deal with empty oil containers, SEW-EURODRIVE is a partner of the oil industry container collection company GVÖ (Gebinde-Verwertungsgesellschaft der Mineralölwirtschaft mbH). As a license partner for Germany, GVÖ takes back/recycles oil industry sales packaging, because oil containers are packaging waste, too, and therefore form part of the reuse/recycling process. All the information you need about returning empty oil containers is available here.

Please return other transport packaging such as cardboard, disposable pallets, packaging film and strapping to your local branch.
