The requirements are wide-ranging: Comprehensive safety technology, optimized control cabinets, and worldwide standardization through the use of proven drive technology solutions. SEW-EURODRIVE has implemented all of this both professionally and reliably for the BMW Group.
SEW-EURODRIVE consistently uses the innovative MOVI-C® automation components, MOVIKIT® software modules, and functional safety technology with different functions, such as SLS, for the various applications.
The cooperation with the BMW Group in battery module production marks a significant milestone for SEW-EURODRIVE. In addition to equipping all BMW Group production plants, the drive and automation specialist from Baden, Germany worked with BMW to implement a complete, state-of-the-art production line for battery modules at the Leipzig plant. State-of-the-art drive and network technology of the latest generation MOVI-C® was implemented for all applications and the PxG® planetary servo gear unit was successfully integrated. The project showed that SEW-EURODRIVE, as a global contact partner, can supply the full range of drive technology from a single source. Together with one of the world's most important automobile manufacturers, the company is taking a decisive step towards maximum efficiency and precision. The foundation has been laid for an innovation partnership in battery module production and beyond.
Industry management is now the guiding element at SEW-EURODRIVE, and the other aspects of sales – primarily key account management – are aligned with it. Major projects with well-known customers are therefore always among the highlights. Thanks to our solutions from the MOVI-C® modular automation system, smart networking is inherently built into production. We offer you the right solution for smart automation for every step of the process – with the complete solution for configuring, starting up, and monitoring all MOVI-C® automation components. Visualization and simulation functions, as well as the provision of IoT-usable data and measured variables, ensure maximum transparency.
MOVIKIT® includes prefabricated software modules for simple drive functions, but also for demanding motion sequences. It is easy to start up applications thanks to the graphical configuration and comprehensive diagnostics of the software modules. The software modules are divided into categories for implementing simple drive functions, such as speed control and positioning, right through to motion control functions, such as camming and robotics. The individual software modules are operated via the real-time operating system of the MOVI-C® CONTROLLER or on the MOVIDRIVE® application inverter.
Thanks to the end-to-end modular system developed by SEW‑EURODRIVE, our customers have access to millions of options and can find their customized product solution for any requirement. The objective of the modular system is to be able to combine as few components as possible into the greatest possible range of end products.
