Sweden – high quality of life, strong economy, strong innovative drive

Small red timber house with Swedish flag against a blue sky

What springs to mind when you think of Sweden? Plenty of unspoilt nature, huge forests, countless lakes, a long coastline, red-painted timber houses? Certainly.

But Sweden also has a strong economy. Its population of over 10 million generates a gross national product of approximately 600 billion euros. Industry is responsible for 28% of that. Large corporations operating in the automotive, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics and wood and paper industries make up a relatively large proportion of this sector.

It is also worth noting that the Scandinavian country has the strongest growth of all industrialized nations. Germany is Sweden's most important export partner and at the same time its most important import partner.

SEW‑EURODRIVE started off in Sweden more than 50 years ago in a construction trailer.

SEW-EURODRIVE in Sweden: headquarter in Jönköping

Hard to imagine now – in 1968, a simple wooden construction trailer was all that stood where the headquarters of our Swedish subsidiary in Jönköping now are. SEW‑EURODRIVE's first assembly plant outside Germany was built there on the picturesque banks of the Vättern, Sweden's second-largest lake.

A very special kind of success story – since its foundation over 50 years ago, SEW‑EURODRIVE in Sweden has recorded continuous growth. One by one, four more sales sites were added – three in the economically strong south (Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö) and one in the coastal city of Skellefteå in the far north. This means SEW‑EURODRIVE is always close to its customers in Sweden, too.

Brief overview:

  • Founded in 1968
  • Headquarters: Jönköping, where there is an assembly plant, Technical Office, service team and training center
  • Other Technical Offices: Södertälje (near Stockholm), Gothenburg, Malmö and Skellefteå
  • Number of employees: approx. 80
