What is the best drive for heavy industry?

  • Materials handling technology in the quarry

When you talk about heavy industry in Germany, the Ruhr region and mining instantly spring to mind – but so do cement plants, the timber industry and sewage treatment plants. At HANNOVER MESSE 2019, SEW‑EURODRIVE was showcasing industrial gear unit solutions that are in high demand for these kinds of harsh conditions.

Bespoke power packs for cement plants, the timber industry and sewage treatment plant

Does your application have special requirements, but a special gear unit created specifically for your scenario would be far too excessive and costly? Then you need a standard drive that still allows for targeted customization.

We've taken our years of experience working with our customers and translated it into an innovative concept based on our tried-and-tested X series. The new Generation X.e features a whole host of hardware optimizations. But what makes it really exciting are the newly developed calculation options, which can take peak loads and environmental conditions into account when determining drive utilization.

On the outside area in front of Hall 14 you could take a close look at typical applications for other large gear units – from a rotary kiln and segmented girth gear, to a large agitator, an extruder, crane technology, and much more.

Scared of getting up close and personal? Not with us!

In addition to standard gearmotors, their "big brothers" – industrial gear units – can also be found in the uniquely comprehensive drive technology range available from SEW‑EURODRIVE. However, these hardly ever leave our factories as purely stand-alone gear units. Instead, they're generally delivered to the customer as bespoke drive packages.

In the crossover between Halls 11 and 14 at HANNOVER MESSE, our red industrial gear units and application-specific drive solutions were sure to catch the eye: You could find out more here about how our customized drive technology is used to provide reliable motion in heavy industry.

Robust, durable, but still simple

The trend toward ever higher buildings requires a high power density, but also – and most importantly – means that hoist gear units must exhibit long-term reliability.
