Benefit from UKCA-compliant products

08.11.2021

Brexit is circling. Following the United Kingdom’s departure from the EU in January 2021, labeling requirements for products imported into the country are also changing. The good news is that solutions from SEW-EURODRIVE will be fully compliant with all the requirements associated with the new UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking. As a result, the entire product range of SEW-EURODRIVE can still be imported into the UK from any site.

Since Brexit, the CE declaration used in the European Union has been replaced in the United Kingdom with the UKCA marking. However, the CE declaration can still be used for products supplied to the UK until December 31, 2022. All products from SEW-EURODRIVE satisfy the CE requirements, which means they can still be sold with this mark in the UK until the end of the transition period. After that, SEW-EURODRIVE will supply all products destined for the UK market with the new UKCA marking. During a further transition period until the end of 2023, this marking can also be indicated with a sticker.

The regulation covers all current SEW-EURODRIVE products with a CE mark. These include frequency inverters, decentralized drive technology, asynchronous and synchronous motors, MAXOLUTION® and DriveRadar® products and explosion-protected standard gear units, servo gear units and industrial gear units.

When it comes to product labeling, the countries of England, Scotland and Wales are classed as the UK. Due to the Northern Ireland Protocol, the CE marking will continue to be used for Northern Ireland.

"We are perfectly prepared for the UKCA switchover and will still be able to supply all products with the required marking. This means we can offer our customers the legal certainty they need and the reassurance that they can continue to plan with our products – for Great Britain, for Europe – simply worldwide," explains David Villamil, product manager at SEW-EURODRIVE.
