"CITY CYCLING" is a Germany-wide, inter-municipality competition aimed at protecting the environment and promoting cycling. The goal is to cover as many kilometers as possible by bicycle – for work and leisure – over the course of 21 consecutive days, which benefits both the environment and the health of participants. Bruchsal has been involved in the campaign since 2016. The SEW-EURODRIVE team, which includes employees from the Bruchsal and Graben-Neudorf sites, took part for the first time in 2017.
Some 120 employees registered this year, and really got pedaling over the course of three weeks (June 30 to July 20). Altogether, they racked up more than 41 200 kilometers. That equals an average of 344 kilometers per person.
This makes SEW-EURODRIVE far and away the lead rider in Bruchsal. The 27 teams in the municipality cycled a total of nearly 120 000 kilometers. That equates to a saving of 17 000 kilograms of CO2 emissions and compares favorably with the 2017 figures of 110 273 kilometers and 15 658 kilograms of CO2
At SEW-EURODRIVE, we are particularly proud to say that two of our employees belong to the top cyclists in Bruchsal and finished in 1st and 3rd place.
We are already looking forward to next year's "CITY CYCLING" campaign.
