Kitted out in the same red t-shirts, the highly enthusiastic Red Runners of all ages from SEW-EURODRIVE have been competing in the Hope Run since 2012. And since 2014 they have come out top in the team ranking, which only includes the results of the adult runners in the main run.

Each lap is 3.7 kilometers long and passes through downtown Bruchsal and the castle gardens. Our adult Red Runners did us proud, completing no fewer than 814 laps – which works out at 3011.8 kilometers – by the end of the day. What’s more, not one but two SEW-EURODRIVE employees made it onto the podium, Thomas Uhl und Manuel Bub both placed 3rd in the individual ranking with 11 laps each. When the first event of this kind was held in 1998, it was still called the Itzellauf. From just under 200 participants at the outset, numbers have increased to some 3.361 runners in 2017.

The 20th Bruchsal Hope Run was organized jointly by Bruchsal’s Caritas Association, Sparkasse Kraichgau and SEW-EURODRIVE. Joint patrons were the city’s mayoress Cornelia Petzold-Schick and the SEW-EURODRIVE management team, who also took part in the event that raises money for social projects.

Fast times are unimportant in the Hope Run, and it doesn’t matter how old participants are, how serious they are about their running, or indeed whether they want to jog, speed-walk or simply stroll. Every lap and every kilometer contributes to the good cause – with very successful results. Together, this year’s 3361 participants completed 38911.1 kilometers, which is equivalent to going almost once around the world.
