Bruchsal, Nuremberg, Fachpack, 21.08.2025 • SEW EURODRIVE is extending the MOVIMOT® performance ELV series upward, adding an additional size to the range. These drives with DC 48 V supply therefore now cover a power range up to 500 W, combined with torques up to 1.2 Nm at 4000 revolutions.
This portfolio expansion is the Bruchsal-based drive and automation technology specialist's response to growing customer demand for more powerful extra-low voltage drive units. With the introduction of a new size for the MOVIMOT® performance ELV range, there is also a corresponding new 80 series size for the planetary gear units that can be combined with the new motor size, alongside the established parallel-shaft helical and right-angle gear units. What's more, a new adapter enables combination with the tried-and-tested 7 series and 9 series gear units.
As a decentralized drive from the MOVI‑C® modular automation system, MOVIMOT® performance ELV combines a permanent-field synchronous motor with a dynamic drive controller in a single housing. Thanks to the Ethernet-based communication interface that is also integrated into the unit, users are able to create highly flexible process control functions and systematically monitor their material flow. This is particularly advantageous for facilities with complex transport systems. The STO (Safe Torque Off) safety function, with binary control via IO systems, is available as an option. Combined with the energy-efficient DCA.. motor, the integrated electronics from SEW‑EURODRIVE provides a higher level of efficiency, dynamic response, and control quality. Amounting to 360 percent of nominal torque, the unusually high short-term torque is also beneficial for dynamic movements in a cyclical material flow.
In addition to their highly dynamic properties, MOVIMOT® performance ELV drive units stand out for their compact design – optimized for low weight and small installation volume. This makes them easier to integrate in tight installation spaces. However, there is demand for small, lightweight decentralized drives even in stationary applications where there is plenty of space.
All the features mentioned above make MOVIMOT® performance ELV a sustainable drive. For industrial applications in protected environments, it is also possible to do without the otherwise standard – but not always necessary – coating, making these drives particularly easy to service and recycle. What's more, all connections on the extra-low voltage drive unit are designed with M12 industrial plug connectors, meaning they can be used with the most common industrial standard cables from well-known manufacturers – worldwide. A further system advantage is that the drives are fitted with the MOVILINK® DDI digital interface, which simplifies startup significantly for users. In addition, the drives recently became UL certified, enabling straightforward use in the North American market.
