The FHM35A field controller from SEW-Eurodrive integrates control and communication functions and realizes the convergence of OT and IT.

Operational technology in production merges with information technology for industrial network applications and software engineering on one controller. At the OT level, deterministic EtherCAT® enables real-time motion control and safe data transmission with the protocol (FailSafe over EtherCAT). The IT level - cloud or browser-based – is characterized by the connection of high-performance WLAN 6 communication or 5G technology. The data is merged via segment controllers or fleet managers and uploaded to the IT level via the MQTT interface (network protocol for machine-to-machine communication).

Technology and safety at the highest level

The Linux-based field controller directs system solutions consistently at the highest technology level with IO-Link interface, 3D process twin and cyber safety in accordance with IEC 62443. The safety functions “Safe Position” (SP), “Safely Limited Speed” (SLS) up to Performance Level PL e and Safe Distance Monitoring (SDM®) from SEW-EURODRIVE for a safely controlled distance between vehicles are implemented in conjunction with an extremely powerful safety controller.

Compact, vibration-resistant, backwards compatible, sustainable

The Field Controller Mobile is compact and vibration-resistant. It is downward compatible with previous versions and cost-efficient. In combination with SEW-EURODRIVE drive technology from the MOVI-C® portfolio - with extended speed control ranges and more precise brake test functions - energy savings of up to 50 percent can be achieved. The control and communication electronics are separate from the MOVIPRO® power electronics - now up to 30 kW.
