To cater for this variance, SEW-EURODRIVE offers a wide range of scalable solutions for the sorters and their infeed.
In view of the shortage of skilled workers and high energy costs, the issues of energy and maintenance are playing an increasingly important role and so are becoming the focus of attention. For this purpose, SEW-EURODRIVE manufactures innovative and easily scalable solutions.
The SLC synchronous linear motors are used for the contactless movement of the drive train in the sorting system. They ensure wear-free and silent operation of the main drive and so replace the classic friction wheel drive. In this proven drive concept, the EL3Z linear encoder on the SLC main sorter drive provides precise position feedback of ±0.5 mm. Further functions can also be implemented, such as monitoring of the magnetic field to provide information on the overall system. Thanks to the MOVILINK® DDI single-cable technology, the coordinated system components now only need one digital interface. The digital nameplate saves significant time by enabling the automatic identification and startup of the drive. The individual cross belts are driven by the MOVIMOT® performance ELV (extra-low voltage) drives from SEW-EURODRIVE. Their high acceleration torques fully meet the dynamic requirements of sorting systems. The MOVITRANS® contactless energy transfer system can be used as an option to supply the cross-belt conveyors with energy. This wear-free and maintainable system makes maintenance easier. Slotted waveguide technology is used for data transmission.
Energy-efficient motors help to reduce operating costs. The latest motor generation from SEW-EURODRIVE is available for the feed, also referred to as the infeed. The synchronous motors of the DR2C.. series with the IE5 classification achieve efficiency of up to 91 percent. Energy-saving drive solutions can be created in combination with efficient gear units and intelligent frequency inverters.
In the case of technical solutions from SEW-EURODRIVE for sorting systems, the main focus is on the function groups of communication, energy transfer, and drive technology. In addition to the hardware technology solutions, special attention is paid to the software. The software also reduces startup times. Monitoring the system is also being simplified. The technical basis is the MOVI-C® modular automation system with the MOVISUITE® engineering software.
