25.10.2024 • Bruchsal, Nuremberg, BrauBeviale 2024: Fruit juice companies need their pasteurization systems to run perfectly. To safeguard this, one user decided to use drive technology from SEW-EURODRIVE to update its system.
The Retrofit Team from SEW‑EURODRIVE got an overview of the situation during an on-site inspection of the system. The customer was offered a technical solution with a new compound gearmotor, including all the necessary modifications to connect it to the existing system. This customer-specific solution impressed thanks to its tailor-made, state-of-the-art drive package, including declaration of incorporation and guaranteed spare parts availability.
On winning the contract, the SEW‑EURODRIVE team took all the necessary measurements on site, including the awkward contours and connection points for the new drive technology. The restricted space at the infeed and discharge ends of the pasteurizer posed an additional challenge. The Retrofit Team then constructed two customized drive consoles that make it possible to connect the new drives to the machine from the outside. Plug-in shafts mounted in the drive consoles even out the difference in length to the system's drive pinion and the overhung loads that occur. The humid ambient conditions also required a special surface protection coating to OS4 that is suitable for use in the beverage industry and is resistant to chemical cleaning processes.
An experienced service fitter carried out the assembly work on site. This included both disassembly of the original variable-speed gear unit and the installation of the new drive units with pinion and chains. Thanks to the turnkey design, the assembly work was conducted to the full satisfaction of the customer – with minimal system downtime.
