The motor
Combination of standard and energy-efficient motors
The DR motor is the first motor to combine the three classes of standard and energy-efficient motors in one modular system.
- Standard motor (Standard Efficiency or IE1)
- Energy-efficient motor (High Efficiency or IE2)
- Energy-efficient motor (Premium Efficiency or IE3)
Depending on the required efficiency of the respective class, the sizes of the motors are assigned to the power ratings.
The DR motor hence offers the unique possibility to use the ideal size depending on regional regulations, standards and laws.
However, all additional features are identical for all class variants. They can be used universally, which reduces storage
space and costs.
Asynchronous servomotors for dynamic loads
The modular DR motor concept not only offers energy-efficient motors, but also asynchronous servomotors for dynamic loads.
Two different dynamics packages are offered to fulfill the dynamic requirements of the applications in an ideal way.
- Dynamics package 1 (D1) = 190 ... 250 % rated motor torque
- Dynamics package 2 (D2) = 300 ... 350 % rated motor torque
The rated torques are defined for 4 different speed classes.
- n = 1200 min-1
- n = 1700 min-1
- n = 2100 min-1
- n = 3000 min-1
The asynchronous DRL servomotors can be combined with the application inverters of the MOVIDRIVE®
series or the servo inverters in axis design of the MOVIAXIS® series.
The efficiency classes of the DR motors
The efficiencies of the standard and energy-efficient motors from SEW-EURODRIVE comply with international limit
values and standards, often they surpass them.
SEW-EURODRIVE has actively participated in shaping the new international classification according to IEC 60034 - 30.
The categorization in three classes offers investment security for the future for suppliers and customers.

Pole numbers of DR motors
IEC600034-30 contains specifications for 2-, 4- and 6-pole asynchronous AC motors.
The DR motors are available with these 3 numbers of poles, each variant in all 3 classes.
The overviews below show the available power ratings of single-speed DR motors for 50 Hz and 60 Hz line frequency.
Designation of the DR motors
The unit and catalog designation of the motors is based on the basic designation of the series: DR motor.
Standard and energy-efficient variants are identified in the third character of the unit and catalog designation.
- DR S Standard motor (IE1)
- DR E Energy-efficient motor High Efficiency (IE2)
- DR P Energy-efficient motor Premium Efficiency (IE3)
